Indian-style pancakes, or dosa:Traditionally consumed for breakfast, dosas are a thin, savory Indian pancake that resembles a crepe. However, I enjoy them at any time of day. Despite their lack of authenticity, these are a delicious substitute that appeals to the standard American pancake.

 

 

  • 15 minutes for preparation
  • 20 minutes is the cooking time.
  • Extra Duration: 30 minutes
  • Time Spent: 1 hour and 5 minutes
  • Eight servings; eight pancakes are produced.

Indian-style pancakes, or dosas

 Dosa Ingredients:

  • One cup of brown rice flour
  • Half a cup of natural wheat flour
  • Half a cup of water
  • One red onion, cut finely
  • One minced garlic clove
  • Half a cup of freshly cut cilantro
  • Half a teaspoon of white sugar
  • Half a teaspoon of ground turmeric
  • One teaspoon of cumin powder
  • Two tablespoons of whole mustard seeds
  • One teaspoon of cumin seeds
  • One teaspoon of ground coriander

 

  • One teaspoon of ground ginger
  • One pinch of cayenne
  • Three teaspoons of rice vinegar
  • One tablespoon of vegetable oil

 

Instructions

Step 1

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour and brown rice flour. To create a thin batter, stir in the water. Blend together the rice vinegar, ginger, coriander, turmeric, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, rice vinegar, onion, garlic, cilantro, and cayenne pepper. Refrigerate for at least half an hour or overnight, covered.

Step 1

Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat to cook the dosas. Spread a thin layer of the 1/4 cup batter over the bottom of the skillet. Cook for one minute, then turn and cook for another minute. Take out of the pan. Continue with the remaining batter.
